COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Helias Lady Crusaders opened the season Tuesday with an 8-1 win against the Battle Spartans.
Lauren Howell went the distance in the circle to get the victory, striking out 14. She allowed two hits and three walks.
Abbi Pringer had two hits and three RBI. Taylor Woehr, Lindsey Steinbeck and Howell also had two hits. Riley Kolb, Kenley Haslag and Riley Heckenkamp all drove in two runs.
Helias will open its home schedule Thursday against Rolla at the American Legion Sports Complex. The JV game will start at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity contest around 6:15 p.m.
In Tuesday's JV game, Helias defeated Battle 8-2. Tori Hartmann had two hits for Helias, while Tabitha Imhoff got the victory.
