MU basketball adds assistant coach

Missouri basketball coach Kim Anderson announced Friday that Emanuel Dildy will join his staff as an assistant coach. Dildy was previous an assistant at Loyola-Chicago.

"Emanuel is a high character, high motor type of coach, and someone who I feel can really connect with the guys currently in our locker room, as well as with future Tigers on the recruiting trail," Anderson said in a statement. "He is a young, energetic coach who has done all the right things leading up to this point in his career - build great relationships and coach smart, intense basketball."

The Chicago-native Dildy was at Loyola-Chicago from 2013-16 and Eastern Illinois in 2012-13. Dildy coached Milton Doyle, who was the Missouri Valley Conference's newcomer of the year and freshman of the year in 2014. He also coached Loyola-Chicago's all-time leading 3-point shooter Devon Turk.

Dildy played at New Mexico State in 2000-02 and EIU from 2003-05. As a senior at EIU, he averaged 15.3 points per game before playing professionally in Germany. He comes with strong recruiting ties in Chicago.

"I spent part of my childhood in Missouri, so I know what Mizzou Basketball means to people in the state and the importance it has to so many," Dildy said in a statement. "The chance to join a staff with Coach Anderson and Coach Loos, two guys I got to know in my early years of coaching, makes the transition very smooth. Add in that I was able to meet Coach Shields during my time at Loyola and you've got a lot of familiarity and comfort there. It will be easy to be on the same page with how we're teaching and how we're recruiting.

"Coaching in the Southeastern Conference is an exciting opportunity that I've been working towards, and I cannot wait to help the Tigers meet the challenge head on. Also, I'm looking forward to being a part of the Mizzou and Columbia community. It's already the fall, so it's exciting to step in and start getting the team ready for the season."
