Voss selected by Angels in MLB Draft

Jacob Voss, a graduate of Linn High School, was selected Wednesday by the Los Angeles Angels in the MLB Draft.

Voss, a 6-foot-9, 255-pound right-handed relief pitcher, was picked in the 27th round of the draft with an 811th selection.

Voss pitched collegiately last season at Creighton. He spent last summer as a member of the Jefferson City Renegades in the MINK League and is currently pitching with the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders in the Northwoods League. He has pitched in three games, totaling 61/3 innings with a 0.00 ERA and 15 strikeouts.

The only area prep player selected in the draft was Trae Robertson, a left-handed pitcher from Hickman. Robertson, who did not pitch this season for the Kewpies because of an injury, was selected in the 38th round by the Kansas City Royals. He has signed to attend the University of Missouri.

Other Missouri high school players selected on the final day of the draft Wednesday included:

Cody Hacker, a lefty pitcher from Wentzville Holt, taken in the 15th round by the Baltimore Orioles.

Wyatt Sparks, a right-handed pitcher from Aurora, selected in the 23rd round by the Texas Rangers.

Caleb Marquez, a catcher from Blue Springs, picked in the 39th round by the Milwaukee Brewers.

Sam Grace, a right-handed pitcher from Francis Howell North, picked in the 40th round by the Orioles.
