Tigers have multiple selections on Day 3

Four Missouri Tigers were selected Wednesday on the final day of the MLB Draft.

Pitchers Andy Toelken and Giovanni Lopez, infielder/pitcher Brian Sharp, and outfielder Trey Harris were all drafted, making that six Missouri players that were picked during the three-day event.

Toelken went in the 19th round to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Toelken shifted from starter to reliever during his senior season, making five starts and 16 appearances out of the bullpen.

He finished with a 6-3 record, recording a 3.21 ERA with three saves in 57 innings.

Lopez, who was picked by the Miami Marlins in the 23rd round, made 14 relief appearances. He struck out 17 in 14 innings of work and posted a 3.86 ERA as a junior.

Sharp went in the 26th round to the New York Mets. He was successful as a two-way player for the Tigers during his junior season, making 10 appearances on the mound while batting a career-best .321.

Sharp finished the season with eight home runs, 39 RBI and a team-high 33 walks. On the mound, he was 4-0 with a 3.38 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 32 innings.

The Atlanta Braves selected Harris, who is from Powder Springs, Ga., in the 32nd round. Harris batted .316 with a team-high 11 home runs and 50 RBI.
