Prep Track: Class 3 Sectional 3

WAYNESVILLE - The School of the Osage Lady Indians and the Eldon Lady Mustangs finished 1-2 in Class 3 Sectional 3 action Saturday.

Osage won the title with 98 points, while Eldon totaled 89.

The Lady Indians won three individual events at the sectional - Cecilia Verslues in the 100-meter dash, Sara Wolf in the 800-meter run and Loren Melton in the long jump.

Verslues also took third in the 200-meter dash. Other top-four finishers to advance to state were Sarah Porter in the 1,600-meter run, Karli Kempf in the discus and Kerrigan Gamm in the javelin.

The Lady Indians also advanced to state in all four relays. Osage was first in the 4x400, second in the 4x1oo and 4x800 and third in the 4x200.

The Lady Mustangs had a double-winner as Caroline Beckmann was first in the high jump and triple jump. She also was third in the long jump.

Haley Clifton also was a sectional champion for Eldon, winning the shot put. Clifton also advanced to state by taking second in the discus.

Lauren Imler was second for Eldon in the 800-meter run, while Rachel Hanks was fourth in the pole vault.

The Lady Mustangs also advanced to state in the 4x400- and 4x800-meter relays.

The Versailles Lady Tigers were sixth with 53 points.

Keely Gustafson of the Lady Tigers was a double-winner, taking first in the 200- and 400-meter dashes.

Allison Taylor in the 300-meter hurdles and Carrie Hoffa in the shot put also advanced to state for the Lady Tigers.

Versailles also advanced in three relays - the 4x100, the 4x200 and the 4x400.

On the boys side, School of the Osage topped area finishers by taking fifth with 49 points.

Robert Moore of the Indians won the shot put. Other Indians advancing to state are Chase Grosvenor in the 3,200-meter run and Matthew McCubbin in the javelin.

Versailles, who finished sixth with 45 points, had a sectional champion as Dallas Waller won the triple jump.

Other Tiger individuals advancing to state are Coby Williams in the 400-meter dash and Justin Hamrick in the high jump. The Tigers also advanced in the 4x200- and 4x400-meter relays.

Eldon tied with Houston for 17th with 13 points. Samuel Rivera of the Mustangs advanced to state in the 400-meter dash and 800-meter run.

The Class 3 state championships will be held Friday and Saturday at Adkins Stadium.
