Jays' Davidson ties for 36th in Class 4 boys golf

BOLIVAR, Mo. - Jefferson City junior Michael Davidson tied for 36th overall after shooting a 7-over 79 on Tuesday in the final round of the Class 4 state championships at Silo Ridge Country Club.

Davidson, the Jays' only state qualifier, posted a two-round total of 159, tying Chaminade's Cooper Benedict and Jackson's Seth Waters in the individual standings.

Glendale's Dawson Meek won the Class 4 individual title.

After shooting a 4-under 68 in the first round, Meek posted a 78 on Tuesday to finish with a 146 and win by two strokes ahead of Marquette's John Cronin in the field of 93 golfers.

Jackson won the Class 4 team title with a 611, shooting a 304 on Tuesday.

Chaminade and Rockhurst tied for second with 613s and Marquette was fourth in the team standings with a 616.
