Prep Baseball: Blair Oaks splits DH

CAMDENTON, Mo. - The Blair Oaks Falcons began the season Saturday by splitting a doubleheader against the Camdenton Lakers.

Blair Oaks won the first game 6-2 and dropped the second game 8-3.

The Falcons overcame a 2-0 deficit through four innings in the opener. Nolan Hair's two-run double in the fifth inning put Blair Oaks on the scoreboard and tied the game at 2.

Ian Nolph put the Falcons ahead for good with an RBI single in the sixth. Blair Oaks added three insurance runs in the seventh, getting an RBI single from Parker Bax.

Kamron Morriss and Nolph each finished the game with two singles.

David Dell earned the win in relief. He pitched two scoreless innings and struck out two batters.

Bax, the starting pitcher, allowed two runs on four hits in three innings, walking one and striking out five. Nolph pitched the last two innings and struck out three.

In Game 2, Blair Oaks trailed 4-0 after two innings. The Falcons closed the gap to one run with three runs in the top of the third, but the Lakers responded with a three-run fourth and plated another run in the sixth.

Morriss had an RBI single in the third for Blair Oaks and Bax added a sacrifice fly.

Dell and Reid Dudenhoeffer each had two singles to lead the Falcons.

Cade Stockman took the loss on the mound. In two innings, he gave up four runs on three hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

Dudenhoeffer, Jacob Rademan and Seth DeWesplore all pitched in relief. Rademan struck out two batters.

Blair Oaks (1-1), which is receiving votes in the Class 3 state rankings, plays Monday at New Bloomfield.
