Jefferson City, Tipton girls hold top spots in basketball poll

The Jefferson City Lady Jays and the Tipton Lady Cardinals maintained their No. 1 spots in the latest edition of the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association's state rankings.

Jefferson City (19-0) is No. 1 in Class 5, while Tipton (2-0) is the top-ranked team in Class 2.

The Central Missouri area is well-represented in the Class 3 girls rankings. The California Lady Pintos are No. 8, while three teams - the Fatima Lady Comets, the South Callaway Lady Bulldogs and the Blair Oaks Lady Falcons - are among four teams receiving votes.

The School of the Osage Lady Indians are in the Class 4 rankings at No. 10. The Helias Lady Crusaders dropped out of the Class 4 top 10, but are receiving votes.

On the boys side, the Blair Oaks Falcons and the St. Elizabeth Hornets are in the rankings in their respective classes.

Blair Oaks holds down the No. 6 spot in Class 3, while St. Elizabeth is No. 9 in Class 1.
