Lady Jays top Borgia in Union Tournament

UNION - Four Lady Jays scored in double figures Thursday night as Jefferson City defeated the Borgia Lady Knights 68-41 to wrap up pool play in the Union Tournament.

Hannah Nilges led the way with 23 points, including seven 3-pointers. The sophomore hit her first four 3-pointers in the game as Jefferson City led 21-7 after one quarter.

The Lady Jays led by as many as 15 points in the second quarter, the final time coming at 29-14 after a basket by Kara Daly. Borgia then closed the half on an 11-0 run to cut Jefferson City's lead to 29-25 at intermission.

Jefferson City then opened the second half on a 6-0 run to push its lead back to double digits. The Lady Jays took a 49-36 advantage into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Jays closed the game on a 13-0 run.

Sarah Linthacum added 19 points for the Lady Jays, Caitlin Anderson totaled 12, while Daly finished with 11.

Jefferson City (15-0, ranked No. 1 in Class 5) will play Rock Bridge in the title game at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Rock Bridge defeated Francis Howell Central 62-52 on Thursday night to advance.
