WEAUBLEAU, Mo. - The St. Elizabeth Hornets advanced to the district championship game for a fourth straight season Thursday, defeating the Climax Springs Cougars 83-44 in the semifinals of the Class 1 District 7 Tournament.
The Hornets outscored the Cougars 59-25 in the first and third quarters combined.
St. Elizabeth led 31-9 after one quarter, 43-20 at halftime and 71-36 through three quarters.
Ross Struemph led the Hornets with 23 points and Nolan Heckemeyer finished with 18 points.
St. Elizabeth (20-5), ranked No. 8 in Class 1 and the No. 1 seed in the district, will face third-seeded Macks Creek at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the title game. The Pirates defeated host Weaubleau 50-47 in Thursday's other semifinal game.
