Boys Basketball: Iberia 73, Eugene 70

LAQUEY, Mo. - The Iberia Rangers used a second-half rally to keep their season alive Thursday in a 73-70 overtime win against the Eugene Eagles in the semifinals of the Class 2 District 8 Tournament.

Eugene, which was ahead 20-17 after one quarter and 33-28 at halftime, led by as many as 14 points in the second half.

Iberia narrowed that gap to 46-43 entering the fourth quarter. Zack Voss scored a layup for the Rangers with :06 left in regulation to tie the game at 66, forcing overtime.

In the extra four-minute period, Jesse Routh broke a tie at 70 with a 3-pointer with :52 remaining. Eugene held for the last shot to tie, but it was off the mark.

Voss led the Rangers with 20 points, while Routh finished with 16 points. Garrett Ray added 11 points and Collin Riemensnider chipped in 10 points.

For Eugene, which ends its season with a 17-10 record, Tre Kempker scored a team-high 20 points. Draven Carrender finished with 14 points.

Iberia (19-7), the No. 2 seed, will play top-seeded Richland at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the championship game. The two teams split their meetings in the regular season, with Iberia winning 66-37 in November and Richland winning 54-52 in overtime earlier this month.
