Blair Oaks girls win back-and-forth battle vs. Southern Boone

LINN, Mo. - Blair Oaks' winning streak began nearly a month ago with a win against Southern Boone.

The Lady Eagles nearly ended it Thursday night in the Class 3 District 9 Tournament, but the Lady Falcons scored with less than 10 seconds left and held on for a 49-48 victory to advance to the championship game.

The margin was just one point after each quarter. Blair Oaks, winners of nine straight, trailed 10-9 after the first quarter, led 26-25 at halftime and entered the fourth quarter up 37-36.

Southern Boone led 48-47 with about 20 seconds remaining, but the Lady Eagles missed a pair of free throws.

Bailey Rissmiller then scored a layup at the other end with nine seconds left and Southern Boone missed multiple chances in the final seconds.

Brooke Boessen and Claire Heckman each scored 11 points for the Lady Falcons, while Rissmiller added nine.

Blair Oaks (21-6), the No. 2 seed, will get a rematch with fourth-seeded South Callaway (20-6) at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The Lady Falcons won this season's previous matchup, defeating the Lady Bulldogs 49-48 on Feb. 2 in the Central Bank Shootout at Rackers Fieldhouse.
