Lincoln teammates Cauldwell, Brown honored by MIAA

The Lincoln men's and women's track and field teams claimed half of the weekly track and field awards from the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

Diana Cauldwell was selected as the women's MIAA field athlete of the week, while Ryan Brown repeated as the men's field athlete of the week, the league announced Tuesday.

Cauldwell was a triple-winner Saturday at the Missouri Collegiate Challenge, held at the Hearnes Center.

The Lincoln senior swept both the women's long jump and triple jump titles. Her jump of 19 feet, 3.25 inches to win the long jump is the longest jump this season in the MIAA, and it ranks 11th in the NCAA Division II this indoor season. She also jumped 40-6 in the triple jump, less than 10 inches from her season-best mark.

On the track, Cauldwell added her third win in the women's 60-meter dash. After posting the third-fastest time in the preliminary heats, Cauldwell clocked a time of 7.71 seconds in the final to win by six-hundredths of a second.

Cauldwell has been named MIAA field athlete of the week four times in her career.

Brown won the men's triple jump with a jump of 52-0.75, which is the longest recorded jump in Division II this season. Findlay's Martin Etsey is second in the nation at 51-4.5.

In the long jump, Brown finished second at 25-2, losing by six inches to Missouri's Roberto Vilches. Brown's jump is the second-longest in Division II, only trailing the 26-1 mark set in December by Chadron State's Isaac Grimes.

The Blue Tigers totaled eight event wins Saturday between the men's and women's teams.

For the men, Kizan Davis won the 60 finals in 6.845 seconds, winning by less than one-hundredth of a second, and Coy Spence took the title in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.09 seconds.

Christine Moss was a double-winner for the Lincoln women. She finished first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.01 seconds and also won the 400-meter dash in 56.77 seconds, nearly a full second ahead of the second-place finisher.

The Lincoln women had four of the top-six finishers in the triple jump. Rusheda Blake was second at 39-10, followed by Tajera Lawkin in third in 37-9.25 and Wedjie Atis in sixth at 35-10.5.
