STOVER - The top-seeded Tipton Lady Cardinals began postseason play Monday with a 69-30 first-round win against the Sedalia Sacred Heart Lady Gremlins in the Class 2 District 4 Tournament.
Tipton led 14-9 at the end of the first quarter and 31-17 at halftime, but 28 points in the third quarter extended the Lady Cardinals' advantage to 59-26 entering the fourth quarter.
Abby Backes and Brooklynn Pace each scored 24 points to lead the Lady Cardinals.
Tipton (25-1), ranked No. 2 in Class 2, will face fourth-seeded Fayette at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the semifinals.
