LINN - The top-seeded California Lady Pintos overcame a slow start Monday to beat the Linn Lady Wildcats 57-42 in the first round of the Class 3 District 9 Tournament.
The score was tied at 13 through one quarter, but the Lady Pintos put away any chances of an upset with a 14-0 run during the second quarter to lead 33-25 at halftime.
California extended its lead to 49-36 entering the fourth quarter.
Gracie George led the Lady Pintos with 17 points and Tristan Porter finished with 13 points.
Linn ends its season with a 7-19 record.
California (18-7), ranked No. 10 in Class 3, will face fourth-seeded South Callaway in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Wednesday. In their regular-season meeting Dec. 15 at the Capital City Shootout, California defeated South Callaway 55-39.
South Callaway (19-6), the Show-Me Conference champion, won 54-45 against Father Tolton in the first round Monday.
