Prep Baseball: South Callaway 7, Fatima 3

WESTPHALIA, Mo. - The state-ranked South Callaway Bulldogs came up with four runs in the top of the seventh inning to break a tie at 3 and steal a 7-3 Show-Me Conference win against Fatima on Tuesday night.

South Callaway scored three runs in the fourth and Fatima countered with three runs in the fifth to pull even, before the Bulldogs responded with their rally.

South Callaway (14-6, 3-0 SMC) and Fair Grove share the No. 6 ranking in Class 3 by the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Caleb Hall reached on an error to lead off the Bulldogs' seventh and moved to second on Devin Borghardt's single. After Peyton Leeper walked to load the bases, Drake Davidson's single to center scored Hall to make it 4-3.

Borghardt raced to third on the hit and then came home when Tyklen Salmons singled to center. Leeper advanced to third on the play and Davidson went to second to keep the bases full.

Jared Mistler was then hit by a pitch, forcing home Leeper to put South Callaway in front 6-3. Tyler Lepper followed with a sacrifice fly to center, bringing in Davidson with the Bulldogs' final run.

Mistler went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored as the Bulldogs ended up with nine hits. Senior designated hitter Austin Loucks was 1-for-4 with two RBI, while Salmons finished 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Davidson also went 1-for-3 with an RBI and scored two runs.

Leeper scattered five hits, struck out 10 and issued just one walk to stay unbeaten at 5-0. Fatima's three runs were all unearned as South Callaway survived five errors.

The Bulldogs host a nonconference game against the Missouri Military Academy at 5 p.m. today.

Fatima (5-6) will begin play in the Camdenton Laker Invitational on Friday.
