Lady Jays soccer tops Sedalia S-C 3-2 in PKs

SEDALIA, Mo. - Morgan Jordan's goal in PKs lifted the Jefferson City Jays to a 3-2 victory Tuesday night against the Sedalia Smith-Cotton Lady Tigers.

The game was knotted at 2 at the end of regulation and after two 10-minute overtime periods. Jefferson City got goals from Bailey Dey, Greta Haarmann and Daelynn Scheulen before Jordan scored the game-winner.

Megan Duffield made two saves in the PK round and finished with 10 in the game.

Jefferson City led 1-0 on an unassisted goal by Sasha Campbell in the first half. Smith-Cotton came back to tie it at intermission.

In the second half, Jefferson City took the lead when Dey scored off an assist by Kaitlyn Schwandtner with 25 minutes remaining. The Lady Tigers then tied it with 15 minutes left in regulation.

Jefferson City (12-5-1) will host the Capital City Shootout on Friday and Saturday at the 179 Soccer Park. The Lady Jays will play twice Friday - meeting Republic at 4 p.m. and Saxony Lutheran at 7 p.m.

in Tuesday's JV game, Jefferson City blanked Smith-Cotton 2-0. Amaya Bell and Ali Burcham scored for the Lady Jays.
