TIPTON - The Tipton Cardinals are looking to rebound tonight and end their two-game losing streak as they get ready to play the Knob Noster Panthers.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

Tipton coach Tony Braby said after leading 16-14 at halftime last Friday night at home against the Windsor Greyhounds, the Cardinals made too many mistakes in the third quarter in a 38-22 defeat.

Braby said he told the team to forget about the last game and to focus on its game this week against Knob Noster. He also said it is going to be a tough game for the Cardinals.

"We will have our hands full. Knob Noster is 3-0 and they do a great job of running the ball," Braby said. "They have a really good quarterback who can throw and run so we will have our hands full with him."

Braby is hopeful the weather will be better and if it is, that will help the team's offense. As long as the team can keep a positive attitude, Braby thinks the tough games will help the team get ready for districts.

Tipton's defense has given up more than 30 points in their last two games. Braby said for the defense to improve, it has to do better with the fundamentals.

"We've got to do a better job of tackling and we had certain assignments that the players needed to do in the last game and they did not do them all the time," he said. "When we did do it we played extremely well and when we didn't we gave up big plays and gave up points."

Heading into tonight's game, the Cardinals are focusing on not beating themselves.

"We really helped the last couple of teams out with turnovers that have set them up for scores," Braby said. "If we don't beat ourselves I am hoping that we have a chance come the fourth quarter that we have an opportunity to win the game."

Knob Noster, a Class 2 school, opened the season with a 68-30 win at home against Versailles. The Panthers also have a 44-40 victory at Warsaw and a 50-8 victory last Friday night at Crest Ridge.

Tipton will return home to face Slater on Friday, Sept. 21.
