Blair Oaks softball routs Cuba 15-0 in state sectionals

CUBA, Mo. - It was a perfect game for Makenna Kliethermes, and a powerful performance by the Blair Oaks offense.

Kliethermes struck out all 12 batters she faced, while the Lady Falcons pounded 15 hits Wednesday to beat the Cuba Lady Wildcats 15-0 in four innings in the Class 2 sectional round.

Blair Oaks, which was the home team, led 2-0 after one inning and added five more runs in the second. Ahead 10-0 through three innings, the Lady Falcons plated five more runs in the fourth to win by run rule.

Brooke Boessen finished with two hits, including a three-run home run in the third inning, her 10th of the season. That homer breaks the school single-season record of nine, previously set by Payton Staggs in 2013.

Kaitlyn Kolb also had a two-run home run in the third inning.

Bailey Rissmiller finished with two doubles and two RBI, while Kliethermes added two hits and two RBI. Kayla Jones had two hits, Peyton Kusgen had a two-run double and Andi Siebeneck hit a two-run double to end the game in the bottom of the fourth.

Cuba ends the season with a 14-10 record.

Blair Oaks (25-4) will host Warsaw (23-3) at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Falcon Athletic Complex. The Lady Wildcats won 11-1 in five innings Wednesday in their sectional game against Willow Springs.
