Rockers receives national award from PrepVolleyball.com

Helias volleyball senior Ellie Rockers was named the National High School Player of the Week on Tuesday by PrepVolleyball.com.

Rockers recorded her 1,000th career kill Saturday at the Ozark Grand Slam, helping Helias to a 5-0-1 record and a tournament title. According to the Missouri State High School Activities Association, she is the 14th player in state history to reach that milestone.

In six matches at the Ozark Grand Slam, Rockers recorded a team-high 68 kills, including 15 against O'Fallon Christian. She has posted 10 or more kills in 26 of the Lady Crusaders' 36 matches this season.

Also on Saturday, Rockers broke the school record for kills in a season. Following the tournament, the Columbia College commit has 394 kills this season.

The player of the week award is selected by PrepVolleyball.com among candidates submitted by coaches. Rockers was one of 28 top candidates from across the country nominated for this week's award.
