Volleyball: Helias frosh take second

WAYNESVILLE, Mo. - The Helias Lady Crusaders took second Saturday at the Waynesville Freshman Tournament.

Helias swept its four pool play matches with wins against Rolla (25-16, 25-10), Jefferson City (25-9, 25-21), Fatima (25-15, 25-20) and Waynesville (25-23, 25-15).

Helias then defeated Sullivan (25-23, 25-15) in the semifinals before falling to Lebanon (22-25, 25-22, 14-16) in the title match.

Lauren Strope totaled 39 kills, 17 points and 13 blocks in the tournament for Helias. Halle Luetkemyer finished with 32 digs, 31 points and 22 kills. Kendal Saucier had 54 points (11 aces), 26 digs and 19 kills. Grace Verslues had 43 assists, 39 points (seven aces) and 30 digs. Alice Stiefermann had 36 assists, while Isabell Stewart finished with 13 kills and Mikayla Brown had 16 digs.

Helias is now 22-8.
