Prep Softball: Eugene 9, Belle 1

WESTPHALIA, Mo. - Paige Rademann pitched a two-hitter Wednesday, leading the Eugene Lady Eagles to a 9-1 win against the Belle Lady Tigers in the first round of the Class 2 District 9 Tournament.

Eugene scored at least one run in each of the first five innings. The Lady Eagles were ahead 4-0 after two innings, then scored single runs in the third and the fourth to build a 6-1 advantage.

Eugene added some insurance with three runs in the fifth, taking an eight-run lead.

Hannah Rader led the offensive attack for the Lady Eagles. She went 3-for-4 with a single, a double, a home run and four RBI.

Jodi Polly also went 3-for-4 with one single and two doubles, while Kaydi Alderman and Taylor Luebbering each had a triple and one RBI. Kayla Bond added a single and a double and Whitley Wilson drove in two runs.

Rademann struck out 10 batters in a complete-game effort to earn the win. She allowed one unearned run in the third and yielded just one walk.

Eugene (18-4), the No. 3 seed, will take on second-seeded Fatima (13-12) at 7 p.m. today in the district semifinals.
