Russellville teams competing in Class 1 races

The Russellville boys and girls cross country teams will compete in the Class 1 state championships today at the Oak Hills Golf Center.

The Russellville boys qualified with a runner-up finish in last Saturday's Class 1 District 6 meet in Marshall.

Campbell Nichols (4th), Arjay Wilson (6th) and Ethan Huff (9th) paced the Indians in districts.

Jared Shirley (23rd), Isaiah Kauffman (27th), Roby Mehmert (36th) and Simon Hartman (39th) rounded out the Russellville boys team at districts.

The Lady Indians also earned a spot in today's meet with a second-place finish in districts.

Lindsey Brandt (6th) and Olivia Barnett (10th) led the way for Russellville at the district meet. Natalie Kirchner (16th), Erica Schweer (17th) and Mackenzie Schwartz (19th) also ran for the Lady Indians last week.

Chamois will have a total of five runners competing today.

Katie Keilholz, who placed 18th last year to earn all-state honors, will run today for the Lady Pirates. Alexis Slusser (10th) and Makenna Wuelling (13th) also earned spots in today's race by finishing in the top-15 in last Saturday's Class 1 District 2 meet in St. Charles.

Richard Schaperclaus placed fourth in the meet for the Chamois boys team to qualify for state. Anthony Keilholz was 15th to advance.

Vienna's Caleb Horman will also compete in the Class 1 boys race after his fifth-place finish in the District 4 meet in Hermitage.

The Class 1 boys race starts at 11:20 a.m. while the girls race is at 12:30 p.m.
