Prep Baseball: Russellville 11, New Franklin 1

NEW BLOOMFIELD, Mo. - The Russellville Indians opened with a four-run first inning Tuesday and never trailed in an 11-1 win in five innings against the New Franklin Bulldogs in the semifinals of the Class 2 District 7 Tournament.

Russellville, the No. 1 seed in the district, added three runs in each of the second and third innings to build a 10-1 lead. The Indians scored another run in the fourth to win by run-rule.

Matthew Miller went 2-for-2 with two runs scored to lead the Indians. He had an RBI single in the second inning and a two-run double in the third. Trenton Morrow drove in a pair of runs with a single in the first.

Nick Thompson scored three times for Russellville. Mason Stewart and Austin Roe each scored twice.

The Indians used four pitchers in the win. Thompson threw the first two innings and struck out one while allowing two hits. Riley Marcum pitched the next 1 innings, allowing one run on three hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

Braden Hickey had a strikeout to end the fourth and Mason Stewart struck out one in a scoreless seventh.

Russellville (16-13) will face No. 3 Harrisburg (11-11) in the district championship game at 5 p.m. today in New Bloomfield.

The Bulldogs defeated No. 2 New Bloomfield 11-3 in Tuesday's other semifinal game.
