Prep Baseball: Vienna 1, Eugene 0

EUGENE, Mo. - In a game that featured just five hits total, an error turned out to be the deciding factor in the Vienna Eagles' 1-0 win Tuesday against the Eugene Eagles.

Vienna's Gavin Stricklan reached on an error with two outs in the top of the fourth inning, scoring Nathan Kleffner for the game's only run.

Vienna pitcher Logan Agan toss a three-hit shutout, striking out 16 of the 25 batters he faced to get the win.

Eugene pitcher Mason Kirkweg also threw a complete game in a losing effort, allowing one unearned run on two hits with one walk and 10 strikeouts.

Agan doubled in the fourth inning for Vienna's first hit of the game, with Kleffner coming into his spot as a courtesy runner. Trenton Rowden also singled in the fifth for Vienna.

Kirkweg had two of Eugene's three hits, a one-out single in the bottom of the first and a two-out single in the sixth. Jacob Adrian followed with another single in the sixth but both runners were left stranded.

Vienna (11-2) hosts Calvary Lutheran on Thursday.

Eugene (6-3) hosts Tuscumbia today in Show-Me Conference play.
