Prep Baseball: Russellville 8, Skyline 1

RUSSELLVILLE - The Russellville Indians resumed their season opener - which was suspended last Friday - six days later, beating the Skyline Tigers 8-1 on Thursday.

The Indians led 6-1 in the third inning when play was suspended last week. On Thursday, Russellville added a run in the bottom of the third inning and plated another run in the fifth.

Mason Stewart, Trenton Morrow and Braden Hickey each had two singles for the Indians, who also benefited from six Skyline walks. Morrow and Hickey each had two RBI as well. Stewart also drove in a run and scored twice.

Hickey earned the win by pitching three innings before play was suspended last week, allowing one run on one hit while striking out one. Austin Roe struck out two in a scoreless seventh inning.

Riley Marcum pitched three innings of relief, allowing just one hit and one run while striking out three.

Russellville (1-2), ranked No. 8 in Class 2, plays today at Fatima.
