Post 5 Juniors sweep twinbill

FULTON - The Jefferson City Post 5 Juniors extended their win streak to five games Tuesday with a doubleheader sweep at Hensley Field.

The Post 5 Juniors faced a team comprised of players from Russellville and California, winning the first game 13-3 and the second matchup 5-3.

Game 1 was a close contest until the bottom of the sixth inning, when Jefferson City scored eight runs.

Jacob Rademan had a game-high three RBI with a single. Cade Stockman and Wyatt Luebbert each had two singles and two RBI, while Jaden Hoskins had a pair of singles and one RBI.

Austin Roe led the Russellville/California squad, going 2-for-3 with an RBI triple and a solo home run in the sixth inning, which made the score 5-3.

Alex Grellner was the winning pitcher for the Post 5 Juniors. He threw the first four innings and allowed two runs on four hits with one walk and one strikeout. Rademan pitched the last three innings and allowed one run on four hits.

Jefferson City collected 11 hits in Game 2. Stockman had a pair of doubles, while Drew Voss finished with one single and one triple. Jackson Voss added two singles and one RBI.

Nolan Heckemeyer pitched the first three innings, allowing one run on three hits. He also walked four and struck out seven, which included striking out the side twice.

Luebbert followed with two scoreless innings of relief and a pair of strikeouts. Jackson Voss closed the game to earn the save, stranding the tying run on first base.

The Post 5 Juniors (8-1) play a pair of games Saturday in a wood bat tournament at Vivion Field. Post 5 will face the Missouri Gators at 6:30 p.m. and the Missouri Redhawks at 8:15 p.m.
