The Jefferson City Lady Jays checked all the boxes Monday night against the Helias Lady Crusaders.

Offensively, they were 23-of-41 from the field.

Defensively, they had a big hand in getting 21 turnovers.

Rebounding, they finished plus-11.

The numbers added up to a 63-43 victory for the Lady Jays against the Lady Crusaders at Fleming Fieldhouse.

"Our inside-outside game is really starting to take shape," Jefferson City coach Brad Conway said.

The Lady Jays got off to a good start Monday night, closing the first quarter on a 6-0 run to take a 17-9 lead. Three of the Lady Jays' first four baskets came on offensive rebounds.

"We needed to come out and execute," Conway said. "We did that."

Caitlin Anderson had eight of her game-high 23 points in the quarter for Jefferson City.

"She's taken the bull by the horns and is leading the attack," Conway said. "She is getting out and pushing the ball."

Helias found out a few hours before gametime leading scorer and rebounder Ellie Rockers would miss in the contest.

"We were going to try a few different things in this game with Ellie in there," Helias coach Alan Lepper said. "The kids tried, but when you lose a double-digit scorer and rebounder, it makes it tough."

Rockers was not at the game due to illness.

"She's a really nice player," Conway said.

Jefferson City was bolstered by the return of 6-foot-4 junior Micah Linthacum. She saw her first minutes of the new year, playing about half of each of the four quarters. Linthacum finished with nine points.

"Her presence really helped," Conway said. "She was a little rusty, but we knew that would happen."

Anderson added nine points to her total in the second quarter as the Lady Jays stretched their advantage to 35-20 at the half. She tallied her final six points in the third quarter as Jefferson City took a 52-28 advantage into the final eight minutes.

"She's been playing stronger recently," Conway said. "She's creating for herself, but she's also creating for other people.

"She's a great quarterback for us, she sees the floor very well and makes everybody around her better."

Jefferson City was a combined 19-of-33 from the field in the first three quarters.

The big lead allowed Jefferson City reserves to see extended minutes Monday.

"We got a lot of bench time, a chance to see where those players were at," Conway said.

Jefferson City finished with a 26-15 edge on the boards.

"I can't grow them taller, but we can get stronger and that will be an emphasis in the offseason," Lepper said.

Erin Wyrick paced the Lady Crusaders with 14 points.

"I've said it before, in order for us to be a quality team, we have to beat quality teams and they're good," Lepper said.

Helias (10-8) will host Battle on Wednesday. The JV game will start at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity contest around 7:30 p.m.

Jefferson City (11-6) will play Thursday at Webster Groves.

In Monday's JV game, Helias was a 36-31 winner against Jefferson City.

Madisyn Hood paced Helias with 11 points. Jayla Crawford and Maddie Showers had eight points each for the Lady Jays.

Helias won Monday's freshman game 45-20 against Jefferson City. Kylie Bernskoetter had 14 points for the Lady Crusaders, while Olivia Schulte added 13 and Lindsey Byers totaled 12.
