Three Crusaders take 2nd at Platte County Invitational

PLATTE CITY, Mo. - The Helias Crusaders had three second-place finishers at the Platte County Invitational that concluded Saturday.

Evan Winder at 120 pounds, Zack Carr at 132 and Nick Schnieders at 160 all finished runners-up in their respective weights.

"This was a tough, tough tournament," Helias coach Bryant Gaines said. "The kids all wrestled very well."

Winder won his first four matches before defaulting in the title bout after suffering an ankle injury. He was one of three Crusaders - along with Randy Salaz at 126 and Nate Distler at 145 - to suffer injuries at the Invitational.

Carr finished 5-1 for the Crusaders, winning twice by fall. Schnieders was 6-1 with four victories by pin. Schnieders picked up his 100th career victory during the Invitational.

Helias took nine wrestlers to the tournament and had seven of them place. Jackson Careaga was fourth at 152. Gavin Adams at 106, Aleksey Salaz at 113 and Colden Imhoff at 170 all finished fifth.

Helias finished eighth as a team with 164.5 points. Platte County took the title with 279.5, with Rolla second at 245.5 and Seneca third at 223.5.
