Boys Basketball: Belle 69, South Callaway 56

BELLE, Mo. - The Belle Tigers began their three-game stretch in as many days Thursday with a 69-56 win against the South Callaway Bulldogs in pool-play action at the Belle Tournament.

The Tigers held the lead at the end of each quarter: 18-8 after the first, 28-16 at halftime and 50-31 through three quarters.

Brett Butler scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Tigers. Skylar Smith added 21 points and 14 rebounds, while Tucker Cordsmeyer chipped in 14 points.

Kaden Helsel led the Bulldogs with 20 points. Dylan Paschang finished with 16 points.

Belle (7-8) plays Missouri Military Academy at 5:30 p.m. tonight in its other pool-play contest. South Callaway (3-12) will play at 5 p.m. Saturday in the fifth-place game against an opponent still to be determined.
