Lady Jays stuff Sullivan for Union Invite title

UNION, Mo. - Jefferson City's defense gave itself a 10-point cushion at halftime that Sullivan couldn't overcome as the Lady Jays won the Union Tournament championship with a 41-31 victory Saturday.

Jefferson City took a 13-8 lead after one quarter of play before allowing just two points in the second quarter to lead 20-10 at halftime. Jefferson City entered the fourth quarter with a 31-22 advantage against Sullivan, ranked No. 6 in Class 4.

Caitlin Anderson, who was named the tournament MVP, led the Lady Jays with 13 points. Kara Daly added 10 points.

Daly and Sarah Linthacum were also named to the all-tournament team.

Jefferson City (9-6) has a short turnaround as it plays Monday at Lebanon.
