OSAGE BEACH, Mo. - In a high-scoring affair, the Versailles Tigers scored at least 21 points in each quarter Thursday to beat the California Pintos 98-92 in the fifth-place game of the Tri-County Conference Tournament at School of the Osage.
The Pintos held a 24-21 lead through one quarter, but the difference in the game came in the next eight minutes, with Versailles outscoring California 27-16 to take a 48-40 halftime lead.
California cut the deficit to 71-67 by the end of the third quarter, but the Tigers outscored the Pintos 27-25 in the final eight minutes to hold on for the win.
Versailles (7-4) hosts Father Tolton on Tuesday. California (4-7) hosts Southern Boone on Monday in the first round of the California Tournament.
