COLE CAMP, Mo. - The Versailles Tigers closed out each half strong Wednesday night to defeat Knob Noster 62-49 in the first round of the Class 3 District 13 Tournament.
Knob Noster led 16-14 after the first quarter before Versailles outscored the Panthers 17-10 in the second quarter to lead 31-26 at halftime. The Tigers took a 41-36 lead before pulling away with a 21-point fourth quarter.
Coby Williams led Versailles with 14 points, Wyatt Espinosa had 13 points and six rebounds, and Jonathan Geier and Brayden Morrison each added 10 points.
Top-seeded Versailles (14-12) will face fifth-seeded Sherwood at 6 p.m. Friday in the semifinals.
