Boys Basketball: Poplar Bluff 67, Jefferson City 62

POPLAR BLUFF - Poplar Bluff made a fourth-quarter run Jefferson City couldn't quite overcome as the Jays fell 67-62 to the Mules on Saturday afternoon.

The Jays were down 15-12 after the first quarter, but a buzzer-beater tied the game at 30 at halftime. By the end of the third quarter, Jefferson City led 47-44. However, the Mules were up 62-52 with about 3:30 left and held on for the win.

Hudson Nilges paced the Jays, who had won three straight games, with 22 points. Brennan Jeffries scored 10 and Garrett Parker added nine points.

Jefferson City (11-10) hosts Kirkwood on Monday. The JV game will start at 2:30 p.m. with the varsity to follow around 4 p.m.

The Jays were victorious in the JV game, beating Poplar Bluff 60-50.

Kaidyn Johnson finished with 29 points to lead Jefferson City (12-6). Sterling DeSha added 12 points.
