Girls Basketball: Eugene 56, Chamois 50

CHAMOIS, Mo. - The Eugene Lady Eagles battled back from the dismal first quarter Thursday to beat the Chamois Lady Pirates 56-50 in overtime in Show-Me Conference play.

Eugene fell behind 12-4 after one quarter, but responded with 18 points in the second quarter to lead 22-20 at halftime. The Lady Eagles continued to lead 30-28 at the end of the third quarter, but the Lady Pirates would tie the game at 43 at the end of regulation to force overtime.

McKenna Wuelling led the Lady Pirates with 21 points. Katie Keilholz and Haley Skaggs finished with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Chamois (16-9, 4-4 Show-Me) opens the postseason against Marion County at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Class 1 District 10 Tournament at Laddonia. Eugene (15-10, 4-4 Show-Me) will play Russellville at 6 p.m. Monday in the first round of the Class 2 District 8 Tournament at New Bloomfield.
