California girls edge Blair Oaks to win Tri-County title

CALIFORNIA, Mo. - Elizabeth Lutz made 1-of-2 free throws with :00.7 remaining in overtime, giving the California Lady Pintos at 51-50 win against the Blair Oaks Lady Falcons on Thursday night.

The Lady Pintos won the Tri-County Conference regular-season championship with a 7-0 record, while the Lady Falcons finish second at 6-1.

Blair Oaks led 9-7 after one quarter and 21-19 at halftime. California took a 33-31 lead through three quarters, while Blair Oaks rallied late in the fourth quarter to tie the scored at 43 and send the game to overtime.

Halie Rackers and Brooke Boessen each scored 13 points to lead the Lady Falcons. Makenna Kliethermes added 10 points.

Blair Oaks (20-5) plays St. James at 8:30 p.m. Monday in the Class 3 District 9 Tournament at Westphalia. California (20-4) will face Knob Noster at 7 p.m. Monday in the Class 3 District 13 Tournament at Cole Camp.

In Thursday's JV game, Blair Oaks defeated California 33-29 to finish the season with a 13-3 record. Kaitlyn Kolb led the Lady Falcons with 10 points.

Blair Oaks also won the freshman game 20-18 to end the season at 7-5. Lauren Strange topped the Lady Falcons with five points.
