Prep Wrestling: Lage takes first for Helias

HARRISONVILLE - Jack Lage claimed individual honors for the Helias Crusaders at the Harrisonville Christmas Tournament.

Lage, a freshman, went 7-0 at 113 pounds in the two-day event.

"He was just outwrestling guys," Helias coach Weston Keleher said. "For Jack to win the title as a freshman is very impressive."

Lage went 4-0 with three wins by fall in pool play. He then won his quarterfinal match by decision, then posted a first-period fall in the semifinal.

In the title match, Lage posted a 10-8 victory against Dezmond McSellers of Rockwood Summit.

"He gave up three takedowns in the first two periods, but he kept working and got the win," Keleher said.
