Boys Basketball: Republic 62, Helias 60

REPUBLIC, Mo. - The Republic Tigers scored the go-ahead basket with :02.7 left Tuesday to beat the Helias Crusaders 62-60.

Helias tied the score at 60 with about 1:30 to play and Republic held possession for the last shot.

The game was tied at 15 after one quarter and Helias led 30-28 at halftime and 47-46 through three quarters.

Ben Cooper led Helias with 15 points, while Nick Brandt and Xavier Sykes each scored 12 points. The Crusaders shot 16-of-31 from 3-point range.

Helias (2-3) is off until Saturday, Dec. 22, when it plays at Cardinal Ritter.

In the JV game, Helias lost to Republic 59-39 to drop to 2-1. Malcolm Davis led the Crusaders with 17 points.
