BLUE SPRINGS — The Jefferson City Jays kept it close for three quarters against the fourth-ranked team in Class 4, but the Jennings Warriors built a comfortable lead late and defeated the Jays 69-60 on Thursday in the Blue Springs South Tournament.
Jefferson City led late in the first quarter before Jennings knocked down a 3-pointer at the buzzer to take a 12-10 advantage.
The Warriors were up 27-25 at halftime, 43-38 after the third quarter and got their lead to 13 with about a minute left.
Brennan Jeffries paced the Jays with 18 points. Sterling DeSha and Kaidyn Johnson each scored 12 points.
Jefferson City (2-2) will face Blue Springs at 4 p.m. today in the loser's bracket semifinals.
Bentonville, Ark., defeated Blue Springs 74-35 Thursday.
