Laux wins for Fatima

KNOB NOSTER, Mo. - Lucas Laux won an individual title Saturday for the Fatima Comets at the Ray Stockdale Invitational.

Laux, a state runner-up at 113 pounds in Class 1 last season, went 3-0 at 120 to finish first Saturday. He won all three matches by fall: one in the first period, two in the second. He pinned Grandview's Dakota Lowe in 2:23 in the championship match.

Fatima finished fifth out of 14 teams in the final standings with 81.5 points. Knob Noster won the team title with 189.5 points, followed by Versailles in second with 155, North Callaway in third with 117 and Blair Oaks in fourth with 102.5.

Zakery Tune took second at 113 for the Comets. After dropping a 7-5 decision in his first match, Tune won his next four, all by pin and three in the first period.

Jason Strope was also a runner-up finisher at 106, posting a 2-1 record with a win by fall and a win by technical fall. Luke Schroeder went 2-2 at 145, winning both matches by fall in the first period.

Finishing with 1-2 records at the tournament for Fatima were Josh Even at 126, Jason Woodruff at 182 and Conner Temmen at 285.

Fatima will compete Friday in the Carrollton Dual Tournament.
