SPRINGFIELD - The Jefferson City Lady Jays opened a two-day road trip with two wins Thursday.
The Lady Jays started the day with a 7-2 win against Springfield Central, then defeated Kickapoo 5-4 to remain undefeated.
Jefferson City swept all six singles matches against Springfield Central, getting wins from Sandhiya Baskar (6-4), Akhi Donthireddy (6-4), Bailey Higgins (6-4), Sudhi Kumar (7-5), Madelyn Becker (6-2) and Jaden Harper (6-0).
Winning in doubles for the Lady Jays were Donthireddy and Becker (6-2). Baskar and Higgins dropped their match 6-7 (7-4 tiebreaker) and Kumar and Harper fell 1-6.
Picking up doubles wins at Kickapoo for Jefferson City were Baskar and Higgins (6-1) and Donthireddy and Becker (7-5). Kumar and Harper lost 3-6.
The Lady Jays went 3-3 in singles matches, getting wins from Baskar (6-1), Higgins (7-6, 7-4 tiebreaker) and Harper (6-4). Harper's win clinched the dual victory for Jefferson City.
Falling in singles play were Donthireddy (3-6), Kumar (4-6) and Becker (3-6).
Jefferson City (6-0) concludes the road trip today in the Kickapoo Tournament.
