Prep Track: Eldon girls win at Southwest Baptist Classic

BOLIVAR, Mo. - The Eldon Lady Mustangs won three individual events and a pair of relays to beat out 36 teams Tuesday in the Class 1-3 Southwest Baptist Classic.

The Fatima girls also had a strong showing, taking third with 78 points. Eldon tallied 123.5 points and Lamar was second at 113. Russellville tied for 19th with 11 points.

Lamar topped the boys team standings with 130 points, easily beating out Stockton's 71 points. Russellville placed fourth with 48 points, Eldon was sixth at 44 and Fatima was ninth at 31.5.

The Comets had a pair of champions: Gavin Ownbey in the high jump (6 feet, 2 inches) and Logan Borland in the javelin (147-11).

Brianna Haller was a winner for the Fatima girls, taking the top spot in the 3,200-meter run in 11:32.41. She also finished runner-up in the 1,600-meter run in 5:22.01.

Alexis Fischer was second to Haller in the 3,200 in 11:37.23. Also earning a top-two finish for Fatima was Halie Moeller, who placed second in the pole vault by clearing 8-6.

The Fatima girls also won the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 9:57.44.

Haley Clifton and Taylor Henderson led the way for the Lady Mustangs. The pair finished 1-2 in the discus and shot put. Clifton won the discus with a mark of 114-10 and the shot put with a throw of 38-10. Henderson had marks of 95-5 and 33-7 in the discus and shot put, respectively.

Also winning for Eldon was Faith Parrent, who ran the 2,000-meter steeplechase in 8:17.63. Alysa Neighbors of Eldon was second in the event in 8:54.80.

Debra Baucom was a runner-up finisher for Eldon, recording a mark of 15-5 in the long jump.

The Lady Mustangs also won the 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays in 45.27 and 4:19.39, respectively.

Isaiah Merida led the Eldon boys team with a second-place finish in the long jump, leaping 20-1.

Tristin Little was strong in the hurdles for the Russellville Indians. He was second in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.28 seconds and runner-up in the 300-meter hurdles in 42.64 seconds.

Harrison Frank was a winner for Russellville, taking first in the 800-meter run in 1:57.44.
