Prep Baseball: Jays win freshman tourney

WARDSVILLE, Mo. - The Jefferson City Jays went 3-0 on Friday and Saturday to finish first in the Blair Oaks Freshman Tournament.

In pool-play action, Jefferson City defeated Fatima 5-4 on Friday and won 3-1 against Centralia on Saturday.

In Saturday's championship game, the Jays won 4-1 against Southern Boone.

Ethan DuBois was the winning pitcher against Fatima. Wyatt Fischer, Nick Williams and Brayden Whittle each had one hit.

Fischer and Lucas Caudle combined to pitch a no-hitter against Centralia. Taylor Hopkins, Whittle and Tanner Schmitz each collected one hit.

Jacob Roettgen struck out 10 in a complete-game effort to earn the win against Southern Boone, allowing just one hit and one walk.

Hopkins had two hits for the Jays in the championship game, while Caudle, Schmitz, Fischer and Nick Williams each had one hit.

Jefferson City's freshman team plays today at Rock Bridge.
