MONTGOMERY CITY, Mo. - The New Bloomfield Wildcats won seven events Tuesday at the Montgomery County Invitational, finishing second in the boys team standings.
New Bloomfield posted 115 points, just 2.5 behind first-place Bowling Green. Palmyra was third with 104 points, followed by Russellville with 69.5 and host Montgomery County with 55.
Bowling Green also won the girls team title with 132 points, edging second-place Montgomery County by half a point. Palmyra took third with 102.5 points, North Callaway was fourth with 67.5 and South Callaway finished fifth with 56.
Clayten Walker was a double-winner in individual events for the New Bloomfield boys, taking first in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Payton Culwell also won the 400-meter dash for the Wildcats and Caleb Distler took first in the 3,200-meter run.
New Bloomfield added wins in three of the four relay events, placing first in the 4x200-, 4x400- and 4x800-meter relays.
Russellville came away with a pair of first-place finishes in back-to-back events. Tristin Little won the 300-meter hurdles, followed by Harrison Frank claiming first in the 800-meter run.
On the girls side, South Callaway's Adrian Mann won the 300 hurdles.
Calvary Lutheran's Amanda Braun picked up a first-place finish in the javelin, leading the Lady Lions to a seventh-place finish.
New Bloomfield, which finished 11th in the team standings, won the 4x400.
