Prep Baseball: Southern Boone 6, Blair Oaks 3

ASHLAND, Mo. - The Blair Oaks Falcons' nine-game win streak in Tri-County Conference play was snapped Wednesday with a 6-3 loss to the Southern Boone Eagles.

Blair Oaks, the defending conference champion, last lost a Tri-County game May 9, 2016, in a 5-1 decision against California.

Parker Boyce's three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning put the Eagles ahead early. They tacked on another run in the third to make the score 4-0.

Blair Oaks scored all three runs in the top of the fourth. Kamron Morriss hit a home run to left field to lead off the inning. After back-to-back singles by Ian Nolph and Bryce Kempker, Maclaine McCarter's RBI groundout cut the Eagles' lead to 4-2.

Cameron Hardwick followed with an RBI single to trim the deficit to one run.

Southern Boone added two insurance runs in the fifth with a two-run double by Sam Stichnote, making the score 6-3.

David Dell took the loss for Blair Oaks, pitching the first 4 innings. He allowed five runs on six hits with six strikeouts and three walks. Nolph pitched the last 1 innings, giving up one run on one hit and one walk.

Hardwick had the only multi-hit game for Blair Oaks, going 2-for-3 with one single, one double and one RBI.

Nate Allen got the win for the Eagles, allowing three runs on seven hits in 6 innings before reaching his pitch-count limit. He also struck out seven and walked none.

Blair Oaks (6-13, 2-1 Tri-County) hosts Fatima at 5 p.m. today at the Falcon Athletic Complex.
