The Helias Crusaders had one singles champion and three doubles winners Tuesday to capture first place in the Helias Invitational at the Crusader Athletic Complex.

Helias finished with 28 points in the team standings. Hickman was second with 20 points, followed by Bolivar in third with 19. Missouri Military Academy took fourth with 13 points.

Jacob Cowley finished 3-0 to win the singles title on Court 2. Cowley picked up wins against Hickman (8-2), MMA (8-0) and Bolivar (8-1).

Pezley won 8-4 against MMA and 8-4 against Hickman while losing 1-8 to Bolivar on Court 1. Loehr fell 4-8 to MMA before picking up wins against Hickman (8-6) and Bolivar (8-5) on Court 3, while Kliethermes won 8-2 against MMA, lost 6-8 to Hickman and won 8-1 against Bolivar on Court 4.

In doubles play, Cory Strope and Jacob Schepers went 3-0 to take first place on Court 2. They won 8-2 against Hickman, 8-0 against MMA and 8-6 against Bolivar.

Because MMA was short on doubles pairings, Helias fielded two of the four teams on Courts 3 and 4.

Francka and Case went 2-1, picking up wins against Bolivar (8-0) and Hickman (8-1).

On Court 4, Ben Husting and Justin Frese went 3-0 to give the Crusaders their fourth title. They won 8-3 against Hickman, 8-2 against Bolivar and 8-5 against teammates Jeremy Rice and John Christianson.

Rice and Christianson went 1-2 to take third, defeating Bolivar 8-0 before losing 6-8 to Hickman.

Dalton Buschjost and Tristan Grawe finished second on Court 1 with a 2-1 record. They defeated MMA 8-0 and Hickman 8-3 before dropping a tough match against Bolivar 7-9.
