Lady Crusaders finish third in tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Helias Lady Crusaders went 4-1, including a no-hitter, in the Springfield Fastpitch Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

The Lady Crusaders opened the tournament with a 4-1 win against Aurora and a 9-2 victory versus West Plains.

On Saturday, Helias no-hit Nixa in a 9-0 win. The Lady Crusaders scored at least two runs in the last four innings.

Lee's Summit North held off Helias' rally in the semifinal game to win 4-2. Helias capped the tournament with a 9-5 win against Branson in five innings in the third-place game.

Abbi Prenger led the Helias bats in the tournament, totaling 12 hits and seven RBI. She had three hits in three of the games and two hits with three RBI in the third-place game.

Rylee Kolb went 3-for-4 with three RBI against Branson to finish the tournament with nine hits and four runs driven in.

Kenley Haslag finished with eight hits and three RBI in the five games.

Lauren Howell picked up three wins in the circle during the tournament. She struck out 13 while allowing two runs with two walks in six innings against West Plains.

Against Nixa, Howell pitched five innings, striking out seven and walking one while allowing no hits. Tabitha Imhoff threw two perfect innings to finish off the no-hitter.

Howell threw all five innings of the third-place game, allowing four earned runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Imhoff picked up a win in the opening game, striking out seven while allowing one run on a hit in five innings.

Helias (16-5) hosts Rock Bridge at 7 p.m. Monday.
