ST. LOUIS - Four Jefferson City Jays finished in the top 15 on Saturday, leading to a third-place finish in the Hancock Invitational.
The Lady Jays placed eighth with 65 points.
Landon Dunlap led the Jays' pack with an eighth-place finish in 17:02.
The top four Jays ran within seven seconds of each other. Thomas Nield and Dawson Schulte finished 10th and 11th, respectively, in 17:05. Cole Biesemeyer was close behind in 13th with a time of 17:09.
Ben Krause placed 23rd (17:24), Izaak Sochinski was 38th (17:56) and Deaken Walker ended up 48th (18:21).
The Jays finished with 65 points. West Plains took the team title with 30 points, while Kirkwood finished second with 62 in the 14-team field.
Parkway West won the girls title with 34 points. Lindbergh was runner-up with 58 points.
Laura Sherwood was the top Lady Jays finisher in 23rd (21:11). Syleste Martinez was 36th (22:05), Jackie Hensley 51st (22:57), Chasity Pendleton 54th (23:11) and Tiffany Eckert finished 63rd (24:05).
In the JV boys race, Blake Conrad placed 11th in 18:43 with Patrick Malone 12th in 18:44. The Jays finished fourth in the team standings.
Hannah Watson paced the JV girls with a 42nd-place finish in 25:22.
In the boys freshman race, Andrew Nield was third in 19:29.
Jefferson City will compete at Camdenton next Saturday.
