Helias third, JC fifth in CCI

NEW BLOOMFIELD, Mo. - Four Helias golfers shot 88 or 89 to lead the Lady Crusaders to a third-place finish in the Capital City Invitational on Wednesday.

St. Joseph's Academy won the 10-team tournament comfortably with a 310. Notre Dame deSion was runner-up with a 334 with Helias in third at 353.

Rock Bridge came in fourth with a 365 and Jefferson City rounded out the top five with a 389.

The magic number for the Lady Crusaders was 88. Alex Nelson, Greta Hinds and Reese Hamilton all carded an 88 at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club.

To round out Helias' team score, Skylar Nelson shot an 89.

Sami Swinfard brought home the lowest score for the Lady Jays with an 89. Grace Craighead shot a 98, while Grafton Craighead and Valorie Hurt each carded a 101.

The Eldon Lady Mustangs placed ninth as a team, led by Kassidy Hull's 76 that was good for second overall.

Jefferson City and Helias will wrap up regular season play today.

The Lady Jays will play in a triangular with Father Tolton at Camdenton, while the Lady Crusaders will host a quad against California, Eugene and Lebanon.
