Blair Oaks softball wins UCM tourney

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Blair Oaks Lady Falcons used three different pitchers to win three games Saturday in bracket play of the UCM Tournament.

Blair Oaks won its first-round game 13-1 in five innings against Harrisonville, then topped Holden 13-5 in six innings to reach the championship game. The Lady Falcons then extended their win streak to 15 games with a 3-2 victory against Ray-Pec to take home the title.

Alexis Findley picked up her first varsity win in the pitcher's circle against Harrisonville, scattering five hits and walking three while finishing with one strikeout in a complete-game effort.

Brooke Boessen led the offense with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored, while Nicole Bryan finished with one single, one double and three RBI. Torie Thurston also drove in three runs.

The Lady Falcons collected 16 hits in the semifinals against Holden. Macey Stockman had three hits and two RBI and Bryan also finished with three hits. Makenna Kliethermes had two hits, including a three-run home run, to go with four RBI.

Hannah Schroeder had two hits and three RBI, while Kayla Jones and Boessen each had two hits and one RBI.

Meredith Eisterhold was the winning pitcher, allowing two earned runs on seven hits in six innings before the game ended early due to time limit. She also walked three and struck out one.

Kliethermes, Blair Oaks' third pitcher of the day, threw in the championship game, giving up two runs on five hits with three walks and eight strikeouts.

Thurston had one single and one triple, while Stockman added a two-run double in the bottom of the third to give the Lady Falcons a 3-0 lead. Bailey Rissmiller plated the first run in the second inning, scoring from second base on an overthrow.

Kliethermes and Boessen were Blair Oaks' two players named to the all-tournament team.

Blair Oaks (15-2) plays Monday at Hallsville.
